Well it's been some time since....

I posted here, How many times have you read that hey?

But yes it has been a while. Glad to say that the kitchen extension finally got finished and I promise to update that adventure sometime soon.

Since Christmas 2012 and getting over that vomiting bug that was going around, I've struggled getting back into the swing of things and being very down hearted over the state of the economy. I think it's fair to say I need to dust myself down get back on my feet and start producing some designs again. I'm full of ideas at the moment and torn as to which direction I should take them,  I just don't know where to start first. However, today I supose I made that start, I've placed my order for new fabric and ready to get the sketchbook going again, just to wet your appetite, here's some little teasers of what I've been working on...

Hope you like them dx

Hi all not been around here much as we've been terribly busy with our Kitchen Diner Extension.

I can't wait for everything to get back to normal so I can find the time to create some more great cushions. The work here just gets more and more stressfull to find out more check my project 2012 page.
For the moment I'd like to share these two little lovelies that I created last month as commissions.

its a fab job this

Just had some amazing feedback on this 'Yoga' themed cushion.
Made for a lady who teaches Yoga, Who was just about to take a very important exam.

I wanted to make it with the whole ethos of 'Natural'. Using natural fabrics such as linen, silk and cotton. The image is appliquéd with little Colourful Sequins representing the Chakras and body energy which we draw upon while meditating. A simple personal message, 'Well Done Louise' embroidered on the reverse.

What do you think of my Soapbox idea?

Hope you've all had a visit to the 'Project 2012' page? we've had a busy week digging, dumping, shuttering. The site is well and truly looking like a builders site and we are now onto our second skip. At the moment we've come pretty much to a stand still, (husbands on day shift) which means not a lot will get done this week with only one and a half hours of light left when he comes home in the evening.

So what am I doing with myself this week?

I have a few commissions I need to crack on with, but I'm also thinking of creating a Soapbox here on my blog. This idea isn't entirely my own as I've just taken part in a similar publication over at http://hollyandruby.co.uk/blog/  I don't know about you, but I love to read about other designer makers and their processes of working, where their inspiration evolves and the trials and tribulations of trying to get their name out there to the masses. A place that can be used as a platform to share your passion.
All you would have to do is write a piece about yourself include some imagery and tell everyone what your work is about. If your an Artist, Designer, Photographer, Crafter of any sort then please get in touch mail@denisethompsondesign.com title your email 'soapbox' I'd love to hear from you, I'm sure others would too

Welcome To the new look blog pages..

Yes welcome to my new Blog pages. I've added a few new pages, Just me & Project 2012, and a Shop!
As I find my way around this exciting new blogger I'm sure I'll be adding more pages so do keep calling back.

Just Me: is just about me really, I keep delving back in and re-jigging it.

Project 2012: is about my husband and I building our own kitchen/dining extension so here you'll find updates on our progress, we're in the early stages of the preperation so you haven't missed much. After being let down by builders not turning up to give quotes, we thought we would do it ourselves. After all if they can't turn up to give us a price how can we expect them to turn up and do the work? I  thought I'd share this, well how hard can it be?

The shop: will take you over to my website shop...simple! just click on the image.

Here on the home page you'll find my current news and views from everything and anything, so to begin this new blog this is what I've been working on today....
